Foum Labouir surf guide

Foum Labouir is a well-known surf spot in Dakhla that's popular among surfers looking for reliable waves. It features a good mix of different sections, making it suitable for most skill levels. The break is located at the point, where you can find a decent wave that holds up in a variety of conditions. With its north-west swell direction, the spot consistently offers surfable waves throughout the year.

This place generally favors a right point break, with waves breaking over a mix of uneven reef and sand. You can expect to catch some fun rides here, especially with swell sizes around 1 ft (roughly 0.3 meters) and up. The tide can vary, but low, mid, and high tides all work at Foum Labouir. The waves wall up nicely, giving you plenty of opportunities for open-face carves and rebound shoulder sections. Though the first section can be wind-exposed, the end section is more sheltered by a low cliff, making it a better option when the wind picks up. A preferable east wind helps to create cleaner conditions, adding to the overall experience.

The drift down the point is manageable, especially when the tide is low. Walking back on the exposed sandbar is usually pretty easy, but be careful of the nasty rocks further out in the water. Foum Labouir is also relatively beginner-friendly during smaller swells, but it's better suited for intermediate surfers when the conditions get bigger.
