Surf: One hour drive south and just over the Tropic of Cancer is Lagtoua, a killer set-up near a big fishing village where two long, right pointbreaks peel down dune-backed points. Sucks in plenty of swell, handles size and is consistently rideable for the few travellers who camp up their 4WD's on the beach here. Environment: 30km back up the coast is Porto Rico, a popular camp spot surrounded by reef and beachbreak options with good wind protection from the high cliffs. Don't stray off the tracks as there are still mines in this area.
