La Bomba is a surf spot located opposite an old gas station, known for its curvaceous beachbreaks along a long stretch of beach. The spot leads down to the La Boca rivermouth, which is popular for kiteboarding. It’s a place that can work well when the wind is light, and you can find some short barrels among the shifting peaks if you know when to hit it. Generally, it’s best to catch it in the mornings when things are calmer.
The optimal swell direction for La Bomba is from the Northeast, but it can also handle swells coming from the North and East. The waves here generally break over sand, providing both left and right options. This spot works best with swell sizes around 3 feet (about 1 meter), making it suitable for intermediate surfers. You’ll want to check the tides, as it performs well during low, mid, and high tide. The preferred wind direction is from the Southwest, which keeps conditions clean and fun.
Even when there aren’t many surfers out, you can usually find your own peak at La Bomba. It’s a chill place to hang out and get some waves, just keep in mind that it’s mainly a morning spot. If you're looking for a quieter session, this might just be the spot for you.
