Surf: Top quality wave with lots of workable wall and hollow sections. Needs a medium to big NW swell and handles the predominant winter southerly winds. Closes out before double overhead, when a sketchy wave breaks just off the barnacle encrusted harbour wall - experts only. When it is on, it can be epic but unless it is really big it usually lacks the power of Piggy. It can at it's best be a very good quality wave with lots of wall, barrelling sections, but ALWAYS tons of people in the water. It is a very easy entry through the opening of the harbour, even on big days. One of the best features is that the spot is protected from the predominantly southerly winds in the winter. Like Piggy, it needs a decent swell before it starts breaking. If the waves breaks less than four feet you'll be challenged by the boulders sticking above the water's surface. Above 10 feet it tends to close out. When it closes out a wave starts breaking just outside the harbour. It's a risky business, as you do not want to be caught inside and drilled on the very rough surface of the harbour....experts only! Access: Park in the harbour area. Directions: Bore Strand Camping, just a few minutes drive north. Environment: Absolutely always crowded and often with surfers out of their depth since the paddle from the harbour is so easy. Last spot before bird sanctuary so Piggy crowd ends up here in winter. This the last spot going south before the bird protection area. Piggy, just 4-500 hundreds meter south of here, has a surfing ban in the period from 1 October to 31 March. This has increased the crowd pressure to Reve havn, which is the only quality spot in the vicinity.
