Roca Loca surf guide

Roca Loca is a surf spot located near a cluster of rocks, known for its powerful right-hand waves. It works best with a good southwest to west swell. The break can be tricky, with rocks to dodge, making it an area best suited for expert surfers. When the swells are on point, the spot gets busy as surfers flock to ride the waves.

This spot handles swell sizes starting at 3 ft (about 1 meter) and really shines with optimal swell direction coming from the west. While there are lefts to the north, they can be sketchy and only work when there's enough size. The waves break over an uneven reef, so paddling out can be a bit challenging. Ideally, you want to check the conditions with low to mid tide and catch the preferable northeast winds for the best surf experience.

Getting in and out of the water can be tricky due to the tiny keyhole that’s hard to spot. Roca Loca is definitely an expert-only wave, so it's important to know what you’re doing when you decide to surf here. If you're up for the challenge and have the skills, you might find some rewarding rides.
