More about The Point surfspot

General: Though it's technically part of Maria's, The Point is really the top section of the wave, right in front of the exposed chunk of reef. The wave itself tends to be a high-line wall, and as such, requires some down-the-line speed right from the takeoff, except on a strong northwest swell where it'll bowl and jack and tube. When it's big it can connect with Maria's proper. Because it's so easy to line up, the crowd can get pretty fierce. Tides: Not the biggest tidal changes but lower generally better. Size: Head high-double overhead Wind: ENE or E Swell: NW, N Bottom: Reef Paddling: Can be a good amount of work depending on the swell. Spot Rating: Fun on the right day when the swell is right to make it work and connect.

Beginner to advanced

Park right there.

Late summer and fall for tropical cyclone swells but late fall through early spring for consistency.

Crowd Factor: Definitely can be with the right swell. Local Vibe: Ever been stink-eyed by a sponger? Prepare yourself.

A little dirty after rains.

Exposed chunk of reef at the top of the point.
