The Wreck (Byron Bay) surf guide

Surf: Byron offers many options for a surf like The Wreck, which is right in town and attracts all types to a beachbreak, given form by an old shipwreck. Usually noted for it's rights, which wall up quick and throw in the odd spitting barrel. There are lefts as well which tend to be a bit slower and shouldery as the SE-E swells arrive at an angle in this deep bay. Environment: There used to be an abattoir in the area which pumped the blood and offal out into the bay attracting sharks by the dozens. The pipe is gone but have the sharks?
