More about Three Points/Marau Point surfspot

Three Points is a set of right pointbreaks that everyone talks about but are rarely surfed because of access. You need permission to get there and it’s a long hike. It favours a medium E swell and there’s decent beachbreaks if the points are not cooking.

From Gisborne town centre drive east on Gladstone Road, onto Wainui Road, State Highway 35, towards Wainui. Continue past Wainui on Moana Road and onto Whangara Road. Just past Tolaga Bay turn right onto Kaiaua Road, The road will turn to Gravel, and continue down to the beach at Kaiaua. From here it is a long walk north east over the point to the next bay. Requires permission from the farmer to cross his land. Walk is approx 2km.

Motuori Island has rights on the north side in E swells.
