Batu Karas Point surf guide
Surf: The fishing village of Batu Karas has a quiet, friendly vibe and is surfable all year, with more consistent and bigger swells during the dry season, but more favourable winds in the wet season. When S swells or larger SW swells wrap around Batu Karas Point into the north-facing bay, a long, fun right starts breaking through a sand bottom cove in front of the JavaCove Beach Hotel. After the barrelly take-off the wave shoulders into deeper water and peels nicely through the jungle-bordered cove that keeps the SE trades blowing cross/offshore. The Point is best at low tide and when the swell is up the wave links through to a second section for rides up to 400 metres!
Environment: Fantastic wave for improvers when small. It's sometimes crowded, but there's usually a sharing vibe.
