Deerfield Park Pier is a popular surf spot located on the southeast coast. It's known to attract a good mix of surfers, ranging from beginners to more experienced riders. The area can get a bit crowded, especially on good days, but there’s enough room for everyone. Full amenities are available, but do note that you'll have to pay for parking.
The surf here works best on southeast swells, especially when the wind is coming from the east. It handles swell sizes around 2ft (0.6m) pretty well, and you’ll find waves breaking over sand. Both left and right-hand waves can be caught, which makes it a good spot for those just starting out. Low and mid tide times are preferable, and you might even find some fun waves during high tide, too.
Keep in mind that northeast swells don't really line up well at this spot, so it's better to hit it when the conditions are right. It’s always good to check the surf reports before heading out, especially if you’re looking for a decent session. While some locals might be a bit protective of their waves, a friendly attitude can go a long way. Happy surfing!
