Devereux (Coal Oil Point) surf guide
Surf: Long, generally mushy and sectiony righthand point/reef waves best with medium tide and big W swell; located around the corner from Sands Beach. Gets very crowded, mostly with students who live in Isla Vista. The very outer point tip can get hollow and very shallow; shortboards only. There are several take-off zones; pick whichever one is the least crowded. Lots of rock boils at low tide. Rarely perfect but well worth a look.
Environment: Check it from the very west end of Isla Vista. Access is by parking there and walking across the bluff (same access as Sands Beach). Pronounced DEV-er-oh.
