Mawgan Porth surf guide

Mawgan Porth is a pretty chill surf spot located in Cornwall, England. It's known for its exposed beach break, making it a favorite among surfers looking for something a bit different. The waves here can be a bit fickle, so it's best to catch it just after low tide up to mid tide for the best ride. There’s a nice sandy beach which is perfect for a relaxed surf session.

The surf at Mawgan Porth works best with waves coming from the west and can handle swell sizes around 2ft (0.6 meters). You can catch both lefts and rights here, with a left sandbar off the south end and a right off the north side getting some extra push from the cliffs. Generally, the waves can be messy and might be unrideable unless you have a clean, small swell. If you’re a beginner, this spot is suitable, but just be mindful of the conditions. Keep an eye on the tide as it plays a big role in the surfing experience.

There’s ample parking available, which makes it easy to get in and out, and a few shops nearby for anything you might need. If you're looking for some more action, check out Bedruthan Steps just to the north where you might find different rips and gullies that can help with those low tide close-outs. It’s worth a look if you’re scouting for some variation in your surf session.
