Playa Chilca surf guide
Surf: Playa Chilca is a long southwest-facing beach, leading up to the large protrusion of Punta Lobos and the headland at Pucusana. When a nice W-NW swell hits at the right angle, perfect A-Frames shack up on the sandbars, creating fast, makeable tubes. It can take a good 4m swell and seems to jack up the wave height in all conditions, but if it comes from the S, the current is unbearable and jet-skis are needed when faces can reach 7-8m (20-25ft).
Environment: Quicksilver ran a contest in Feb 2012 and called the spot UFO's after all the sightings made in this area. The fact they waited 2 months for the right swell gives you an idea of its low consistency. Drive up the beach to the northern corner.
