It tends to be a bit crowded due to its accessibility and the friendly atmosphere, so expect to share the waves with others.

The surf at Praia Macumba often features fat rolling walls that are great for longboarders and those just starting out. The waves typically break over sand, offering both left and right rides and are best suited for beginner surfers. It handles swell sizes as small as 1 ft (about 0.3 meters), with the optimal swell direction coming from the southeast. Other swell directions like east and southwest can also work, but the waves are generally more forgiving here.
