Radar Reef is a surf spot that sits in an exposed area, taking in SW swells and winds. Getting to the break requires a solid paddle out through some strong currents. Once you make it out, you’ll find an isolated righthand bommie that can be pretty intimidating, especially at higher tides. Just next to it is Bullet Reef, which is known for its sizable barrels over a dark, shallow reef.
This spot works best with swells coming from the South and Southwest, handling sizes starting at about 2 feet (0.6 meters). The waves break over an uneven reef and are primarily right-handers. For the best conditions, you’ll want the winds coming from the Northeast, and the ideal tides are during mid to high levels. Just a heads-up, this spot is suited for expert surfers due to its challenging setup.
Accessing Radar Reef is easiest by boat, so make sure you have a sturdy one with a strong anchor to keep you steady while you're surfing. It's a spot for those who really know what they're doing, so keep that in mind when planning your session.
