The surf here tends to be pretty good, especially during the winter months when the swell rolls in from the South, South-Southwest, and Southwest. It can handle swell sizes from 2 feet (0.6 meters) all the way up to 10 feet (3 meters), but it’s best at low to mid tide. The waves break over a combination of sand and rock, showcasing both reef and point breaks. You’ll mainly find right-handers here. Ideal wind directions are from the West, Northwest, and North, which can make for some glassy conditions. The spot caters to surfers of all abilities, thanks to its varied wave sizes, so both beginners and intermediates can find something suitable.
Getting to Jack's is straightforward; you can park right by the cliff and take a short walk down the stairways. Just be aware that it's very crowded most of the time, with a local vibe that can be a bit edgy, particularly when the surf is good. It’s best to visit during the mid-week if you want to avoid the crowds. Keep an eye out for some hazards like longboarders, kelp, and sometimes even aggressive sea otters.
