Surf: Seriously shallow suckout sandbar barrel breaking off the west jetty and across the entrance to the Santa Cruz Municipal Harbor. On big winter swells rides are possible right across the entrance and past the south jetty. Environment: Broken boards and bodies are common. Experts only. It is illegal to surf here, so proceed with caution. The Army Corps of Engineers created the wave and now must slave to remove it with regular dredging.
