Laguna Creek is a surf spot that features a wedgy, hollow beachbreak with a good amount of backwash at high tide. It works best during small NW windswells or peaky, clean S swells. It’s a decent place to catch some waves but don’t expect perfect conditions all the time. The best time to surf here is during a medium outgoing tide.
This spot is ideal for intermediate surfers, as it can handle swell sizes starting at about 2 feet (0.6 meters). The optimal swell direction is from the Southwest, but it also picks up swells from the South and Northwest. You’ll find both left and right wave directions breaking over the sand, making it a versatile spot, especially when the wind is coming from the Northeast. Low to mid tide heights are preferable for the best surfing experience.
When you're heading to Laguna Creek, park in the dirt lot across the highway. Keep an eye out for the creek marker, then cross the street and follow the dirt path over the railroad tracks to get down to the beach. It's not a complicated trek, so you can focus on getting ready to surf!
