Praia da Cordama is a vast stretch of beach tucked beneath impressive cliffs, offering a mostly isolated surfing experience. This spot is often less crowded, and you'll find plenty of space to spread out, especially during the summer months. The access is straightforward, with a beach front car park at the end of an access road, making it easy to get to the waves.
Surfing here is best when the swell is coming from the Northwest or Southwest, with optimal sizes ranging from 2ft (0.6m) to 8ft (2.4m). The beach has multiple peaks due to shifting sandbanks, which means you can find both left and right breaks. In general, the best time to surf is during low to mid tides, as this will provide the cleanest conditions. You'll want to watch out for the winds; ideally, you’ll need easterly winds to keep the waves from getting blown out. While it can handle waves for all abilities, beginners should be cautious, as the powerful waves and currents can be a challenge, especially over two and a half times shoulder high. Board types can range from shortboards and funboards to longboards and fish, accommodating a variety of surfers.
While summer can bring some glassy conditions and plenty of peaks, be mindful of the strong currents and rips, which can be tricky. The local vibe is pretty quiet, making it a great spot to enjoy nature without too much noise. The best time to visit is from September to February, as conditions tend to get less favorable after March, with less optimal winds coming in.
