Praia da Cordama surf guide
Surf: More isolated beachbreak with a sprinkling of rocks below impressive cliffs. Small summer swells in glassy conditions will provide plenty of peaks but the N winds will destroy it.
Environment: Summer crowds will be spread out. Strong currents.
Surf: General: This huge stretch of exposed coastline sits beneath cliffs and is home to a series of breaks sculpted by shifting sandbanks, sand covered reefs and rocky outcrops. Nearly all are best low to mid - but occasionally work all through the tides. Best in small swells as it can quickly get too big. The breaks here need offshore easterly winds as they are easily blown out. Remote and rippy - never surf alone.
Tides: Low to near high.
Size: Waist high to double overhead.
Wind: SE, E
Swell: NW to SW
Bottom: Sand with rocky outcrops and reefs.
Paddling: Can be hideous over shoulder high - powerful waves and currents.
Spot Rating: Big, exposed stretch of beach home to powerful, long, walling waves - best on small, clean days.
Access: Beach front car park at end of access road.
Crowds: Crowd Factor: Uncrowded - if busy here there are endless peaks up and down the beach.
Local Vibe: Quiet.
Environment: OK
Hazards: Powerful waves with rips, currents, rocks - don't surf alone.
Season: Best from September to February - after March there's still lots of swell but winds are less favourable.
