Praia do Amado surf guide
Surf: Along a winding track to the south of Carrapateira village, this consistent beach has more shelter than Praia da Bordeira and a right breaking off a large rock from mid-low tide. Average peaks break further down the beach.
Environment: Popular with Algarve surf schools, despite the odd rip.
Surf: General: Just to the south of the village of Carrapateira is Praia do Amado, a surprisingly busy beachbreak that is more sheltered than Bordeira to the north. Wave quality here varies with the shifting banks, but the headland can offer some protection from winds out of the north. Overly popular for the quality of waves.
Tides: Low to mid high tide.
Size: Waist high to overhead.

Paddling: Fine on smaller days, may lack channel when bigger.
Spot Rating: Popular beachbreak with fun, peaky waves that is more sheltered than beaches to the north. Less affected by northerly winds.
Access: Large car park at northern end of bay.
Crowds: Crowd Factor: Can be surprisingly busy, attracts a lot of travelling surfers.
Local Vibe: Energetic, bustling but OK vibes.
