Forresters is a well-known surf spot located on the Central Coast. It's recognized for its powerful waves and unique layout, making it a favorite for experienced surfers. The spot features a half-submerged bombie that can really come alive with a decent swell. It tends to attract those looking for challenging conditions, so it's best suited for surfers who know what they're doing out there.
The waves here can get quite big, with the potential to reach up to 15ft (5m) during sizable south swells. The optimal swell direction is south, but it also handles southeast swells pretty well. The break occurs over uneven reef, offering both lefts and rights. Ideally, you want to surf during low to mid-tide for the best results, and a west wind is preferable. It's worth noting that this spot can get heavy, so it’s definitely for expert surfers only.
Besides the big waves, the southern corner of Forresters has a spot known as Banzai. This area is ultra shallow and works best when the tide is higher and the conditions are right for southeast to south swells. It can add some variety to your session if you're looking to challenge yourself further. Just remember, Forresters is not really for beginners, so make sure you're prepared before paddling out.
