Karamba surf guide

Karamba is located right in the middle of Playgrounds anchorage. It's a pretty chill surf spot that caters mostly to longboarders looking to ride some steady waves. The spot is named after a fish storage facility, and you might hear it called Floating House or Duckies too. The area has a tiny sandy patch with one palm tree and even a snake, making it a unique little place.

This spot works best when the swell is coming from the south or southwest, handling sizes around 2 feet (0.6 meters). The waves are more fun during low to mid tide and can provide both left and right breaks over live coral. While the lefts can give you some surprisingly long rides, the rights on the north side, often called Crystals (or Chubbies), can be a bit meatier if you're into fatter waves. It's generally a good spot for beginners since the surf can be pretty manageable.

Karamba usually stays uncrowded, thanks to the way the S swell refracts and keeps the size down. If you're looking to work on your trimming and speed, this place is worth checking out. Just keep an eye on the wind too—west winds are preferred here for the best surfing experience.
