Hultin's surf guide

Hultin's is a surf spot located just outside Laniakea, positioned west of the top of Jocko's and east of Laniakea's more popular take-off zone. This spot is known for its right-handed waves that can connect with Laniakea during northerly swells. It’s a place that can offer good conditions but isn't always on the radar for every surfer.

This spot can handle swells from the Northwest and North-Northwest, with sizes ranging from 6 ft to 14 ft (about 2 m to 4.3 m). Generally, the best time to surf here is during winter, when the waves can get pretty solid. The bottom is a mix of lava, rock, and coral, which makes it a reef break. It’s ideal for intermediate to expert surfers, and the waves tend to run right. Pay attention to the wind; the easiest conditions come from the East-Northeast to South-Southwest. Low to mid to mid-high tides are preferred.

Access is pretty easy, with parking available in the dirt lot across from Laniakea Beach. Crowds can vary; expect to see a few surfers in the water when it’s breaking, though it’s not always packed. Respect and humility go a long way with the locals here. Just keep in mind, with any surf spot, Hultin's has its hazards like the reef, strong currents, and the occasional shark sighting, so always stay aware.
