La Zurriola surf guide
Surf: Consistent, medium-quality beachbreak that can have good peaks depending on the sandbars. A lefthander peels towards the pier at low tide. Best on small swells; anything over about 5' closes out.
Access: Parking in summer extremely difficult
Directions: Practically in town centre
Environment: Often crowded. Practically in the town centre of San Sebastian. City-type roadside parking with meters, or expensive underground carparks; practically impossible in the summer. Moderately polluted, mainly from residential and stormwater runoff. Beach facilities include toilets, showers, lifeguard and surf school.
Surf: General: Playa de la Zurriola, set in the heart of this urban setting, is a quality beachbreak. The sandy beach has a series of peaks that shift with the tides and swells. At the western end, a long stone jetty follows the river out into the bay. The eastern edge of the bay sees sandbanks form especially well, a righthander being the most consistent.
