Chart House Rights is a surf spot located right in front of the Chart House restaurant. It features a small, fast, hollow right that breaks over a shallow reef. This spot is known for its rock hazards and strong shoreline currents, so it's important to be cautious. You'll find that it really needs a small south-southwest swell to get going, ideally reaching up to about head high.
The waves here break mostly over boulders and are best suited for shortboards. With an optimal swell direction from the southwest and the ability to handle swell sizes around 1 ft (0.3 m), it's good to have the right conditions lined up. You’ll want to hit this spot during low tide—the lower it is, the better the waves tend to be. It also works best with a north wind, which keeps things clean. Keep in mind that the take-off area is pretty small, and the reef can be tricky, so using a leash is definitely recommended.
Accessing the beach is done down a cliff next to the Chart House. If you plan to park, make sure to do so along PCH since you won't be allowed into the restaurant's parking unless you're dining. With limited space in the lineup, it can get crowded quickly, so prepare for a bit of a wait for your turn.
