Maroubra is one of the more consistent beaches in the city, known for offering surfable waves throughout the year. Located in Sydney, it provides a range of surf conditions suitable for different skill levels. The beach is quite popular, especially among surfers looking to catch some good waves without having to travel far from the city center.
This spot works best with a NorthEast swell, but it can handle swells coming from South as well. It’s great for beginners as even with smaller swells around 1ft (0.3 meters), you can find decent waves. The breaks are mostly over sand, with left waves found at the north end during summer NE swells. The middle of the beach sees peaks in any swell while you might get the occasional right at the southern end. Low to mid and high tides are all good times to surf here, but the best wind direction is from the west.
It’s a good idea to keep an eye on the surf conditions, especially during peak times, as it can get crowded. Maroubra is a friendly spot for surfers of all levels, and with the right conditions, it makes for a decent day out on the water.
