Marinella is a surf spot located in Anglet, known for its variable conditions. Like many beaches in this area, you might find it perfect one day and below average the next. The surf can really depend on sand distribution and wind, so it’s always a bit of a gamble. The spot can handle crowds, especially since it's near the Youth Hostel and the Fontaine Laborde camping, which tends to attract surfers during the summer and autumn weekends.
The surf at Marinella works best with a medium W-NW swell, and it can handle sizes down to about 1 ft (0.3 m). The waves break over sand and can offer peaks that flank the jetties. You’ll usually get some steep shoulders and the occasional pit. The wave directions are both left and right, and an east wind helps to clean things up. You can surf it during low to high tide, but keep in mind this spot is more suited for intermediate surfers.
Since the area gets busy, especially on weekends, it’s a good idea to arrive early if you want to snag a good wave. Check the surf forecast before heading out, as conditions can change quickly around here.
