Weld Road surf guide

Surf: Weld Road is right next to Ahu Ahu and shares many characteristics. Great SW wind protection and easy rolling peaks perfect for longboard, learner and lazy days. Lots of boulders around the rivermouth and it usually gets better at high. Directions: From New Plymouth head south west on Devon Street West, then onto South Road, The surf Highway, State Highway 45. Continue through Oakura, turn right onto Weld Road, down to the end of the road. Environment: All around here are small tracks leading through farms to the ocean and waves. Always ask permission before crossing someone’s property and close all farm gates.
